Vilasar de Dalt belongs to the province of Barcelona and is located in the region of El Maresme, between the municipalities of Cabrils, Orrius, Premiá de Dalt and Vilasar de Mar. It is located about ten kilometres from Mataró, the county capital, and about twenty kilometres from Barcelona. In the 1980s the official name was changed to the Catalan form.
